From landscaping to retail to agriculture, The Arc Eastern Connecticut’s micro-enterprises match employees with jobs in their fields of choice, where they receive training and support and grow into sought-after employees.

Today, all micro-enterprises are on track for profitability and reduce dependency on grants and donations. The Arc ECT pays minimum wage, and people with IDD move into community jobs paying minimum wage or higher. Trainee employees gain valuable experience in a variety of fields including culinary arts, retail/customer service, hospitality/cleaning, horticulture/aquaculture, landscaping/lawn care, and recycling.

The Arc Quinebaug Valley and The Arc New London County merged in July 2019 to form The Arc Eastern Connecticut.  Both agencies were established in 1952 by parents of children with intellectual disabilities in order to ensure equal participation and choice in school, in the workplace, and in their communities. Combining program and staff strengths, The Arc Eastern Connecticut now serves the entire eastern CT region and is the largest chapter of The Arc in the state.
