When you become a member of The Arc New London County, you join more than 700 advocates and their families to help continue our mission of providing independent lives for individuals with disabilities. The Arc NLC is successful in no small part due to the families, business partners, volunteers and others who contribute and become members. You also become a member of the nation’s largest grassroots movement that works to protect the rights of people with IDD at the state and national levels. You unite with many strong voices to ensure that resources and supports are available to meet the needs of people with IDD and their families in southeastern Connecticut.

Your membership in The Arc New London County means:

  • You believe that it’s important for The Arc NLC to continue to grow and expand services to those on waiting lists in Connecticut.

Information and Education – You will receive our newsletter and periodic mailings that keep you informed about the latest developments here and in the field of IDD in Connecticut and nationwide. Special announcements give you up-to-the minute information about The Arc’s advocacy activities, programs and events.

Resources and Support – Your membership automatically enrolls you as a member of The Arc Connecticut and The Arc of the US. You can take advantage of information and resources available on including research, fact sheets, national programs such as Autism NOW: The National Resource and Information Center and the National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability, and public policy information.

Community – Your membership gives you greater voice in how The Arc New London County operates, joining a network of families, professionals and friends committed to helping people with IDD. Join an active online community and our social media channels, and attend events hosted by The Arc NLC.

Discounts – You can receive special discounts on our popular summer Camp Harkness programming and other events.

Representation - You increase The Arc NLC’s representation with both The Arc Connecticut and The Arc of the US. Representation at the national level is based on the number of members a chapter has.More representation = a louder and stronger voice heard by state legislators and national policy makers.

The Arc Eastern Connecticut, established by two groups of families in 1952, provides advocacy and supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the entire region. Our services touch every aspect of a person's life: housing, employment/job development, vocational/micro-enterprise ventures, education, day programs, in-home supports, Senior services, health/fitness activities, and community involvement.
