Olivia is all smiles when she's working with friends.

The Arc ECT operates three innovative micro-enterprise businesses that provide training and career development for people with IDD. Each is designed to offer real-world work experience with fair-market wages and the skills to grow their careers.

One of those people who have grown personally and professionally is Olivia. Olivia began working at The Emporium in September 2022 and joined the team at The Arc ECT Cookie Factory in 2023. Initially, she was very shy, but she soon showed everyone her impressive ability to master the various steps of cookie production. She has quickly become more confident to take on individual responsibilities and initiatives with great detail.

“We have seen much personal growth in Olivia since she started participating at The Arc ECT.”

Her parents are so proud of what she’s achieved. “We have seen much personal growth in Olivia since she started participating at The Arc ECT. Her personality has blossomed and she has made a few very nice friends.” Outside of The Cookie Factory, Olivia lives a full and enriching life. She is an active bowling and croquet player and has participated in the Special Olympics. She enjoys visiting family and friends, going for walks and taking care of her two stuffed pigs Peachy & Gracey.

“Olivia is a great example of everything we strive for at The Arc ECT. One of the goals of the micro-enterprises we’ve developed at The Arc ECT is to provide individuals with the opportunity to grow and develop to their full potential, personally and professionally. Meaningful work gives people a sense of equality, achievement and confidence.” says Kathleen Stauffer, CEO.
