PBS Kids Casts New Character With Autism

Self Advocate Coordinator

April is World Autism Awareness Month, and there is great news for families with young children. The PBS Kids show “Daniel Tiger Neighborhood” is casting a new character who happens to have Autism. The episodes premier the week of April 5th on PBS Kids.

They will air other shows spotlighting characters on the Autism spectrum during the month. The best news to me is the character will be voiced over by an actor that is also on the Autism spectrum. This is good news because Hollywood has struggled to hire people with disabilities on TV and in the movies.
