Day Support Options

We offer people with disabilities the opportunity to live as valued members of our community.

Your talent, your interests, and your knowledge will be put to use in our community and on-site programs.

The Arc ECT offers Day Support Option (DSO) programs for people with IDD ages 16 and up who need a bit more structure and supervision than individual support can provide. We offer a variety of non-vocational day programming for young adults through seniors. Our services focus on personal choice while recognizing the specialized and often complex needs of the individuals we serve.

We operate four Day programs at three locations Norwich, Danielson and Groton.

The Community Integration Program (CIP) is located in our Sachem Street offices in Norwich, and our Day Service Option program is available at our Mechanic Street facility in Danielson.

Our classroom-style programming focuses on social skills and recreation through a wide range of activities: Legos,Cooking, Crafts, sports, Nature, Music, Fine Motor Exercises, Sign Language and more!

Our program is all about YOU: what you want to do, when you want to do it, and how we can help you accomplish it. We strive to make all your experiences a learning opportunity that is both educational and fun.

Enjoy massage therapy, holiday celebrations, games, live music, or a mix of staff-supported activities based on your interests, hobbies and personality, as well as volunteer and vocational interests and goals.

And for those who enjoy community events...

We go everywhere! Trips to aquariums, parks, libraries,

museums, local fire departments, farms, zoos, bowling,

movies . . . we repeat old favorites and explore new possibilities.

If you’ve always wanted to go apple picking or pumpkin picking

-- you can! If a spring picnic is what you enjoy,

we will find the perfect spot.

Sensory rooms at
The Arc Eastern Connecticut

Our sensory rooms offer you a home-away-from-home feeling to stimulate the senses or simulate a community outing. What makes each room its own special place is what you bring to it.

You can:

  • show off your musical talents

  • enjoy the sounds of nature at your leisure

  • paint a spectacular picture of your choice

  • relax with a back massage . . . just for you

  • enjoy a cold soft drink while you relax

  • kick back and watch your favorite movie

Let your imagination be your guide. Nothing is impossible. We provide you with the tools and you make the choice of what you want to do each day.

Enjoy massage therapy, holiday celebrations, games, live music, or a mix of staff-supported activities based on your interests, hobbies and personality, as well as volunteer and vocational interests and goals.
